About NAESB

The North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) (originally called the Gas Industry Standards Board - GISB) serves as an industry forum for the development and promotion of standards which will lead to a seamless marketplace for wholesale and retail natural gas and electricity, as recognized by its customers, business community, participants, and regulatory entities.  Systrends CEO, David Darnell, has been actively involved in the NAESB organization for over 7 years and currently sits on the NAESB Board of Directors.

NAESB includes four "quadrants": the Retail Electric Quadrant (REQ); the Wholesale Electric Quadrant (WEQ); the Retail Gas Quadrant (RGQ); and the Wholesale Gas Quadrant (WGQ).  Each Quadrant includes Committees, Subcommittees, and Task Forces who are responsible for plans, governance documents and standards development activities for that portion of the energy industry.

In 2006, Systrends software for secure Internet B2B (Business-to-Business) transaction transport and trading partner management - Transaction Transporter T2 - was certified as an NAESB software product (for Electric Delivery Mechanism - EDM - standards 1.6 and 1.7).  NAESB certification requirements include:

bullet

Data/Information Certification Requirements.

bullet

Electronic Delivery Mechanism (EDM) Certification Requirements.

bullet

Informational Postings and Customer Activities Web Site Certification Requirements.

Under the scope of these four main requirements is a 32-page Checklist of standards requirements that must be met to obtain certification.  Additional information on NAESB software product certification can be found at http://naesb.org/cert_products.pdf
